Ali Akbar Salehi underlined Iran’s keenness to upgrade ties with Cairo, and said that the two countries should fill the gap created during the last 30 years in their bilateral relations.
Unfortunately, the Iranian and Egyptian nations have been apart over the past 30 years and we hope this 30-year gap would be compensated for through the expansion of ties.
Salehi is in Egypt to attend the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Sharm-el-Sheik. Iran will host the NAM summit meeting in September 2012. Salehi said that the meeting will promote Iran’s position in the international arena.
