The Tabnak website, affiliated with Mohsen Rezai, secretary-general of the Expediency Council and former IRGC commander, reports that Khamenei’s fatwa (Islamic ruling) on the illegality of using anti-filtering tools in Iran was itself blocked, 30 hours after it was published on Iranian websites. It seems that the ruling was filtered because it contained the word “anti-filtering,” which triggered the Iran’s automatic censorship system to block it. The misfire prompted the conservative website to write,
The filtering of a [religious] order is so ugly for the executive branch that it can bring into question the whole philosophy of filtering.
