Iranian websites and news agencies reported that the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran has confirmed his participation in the Rio+20 Conference in Brazil. Head of the Iran-Brazil Friendship Association, Mir Qassem Momeni, also confirmed that the Iranian president would travel to Brazil in June to participate in the conference. He noted that some of the local media in Brazil has created negative environment surrounding the development of bilateral relations between the countries and the president’s forthcoming trip. He added that the media hype is fomented by a particular group, but stressed that it has no impact on the developing relations between the two countries. Momeni added that during his visit, Ahmadinejad will meet with top Brazilian officials.
