Plans to counter sanctions submitted to Ahmadinejad

Economy Minister, Seyyed Shamseddin Hoseyni, Head of the Central Bank (CBI) Mahmoud Bahmani, Mines and Industry Minister Mehdi Ghazanfari and Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi held a special meeting in the early morning on June 28 at the Central Bank to discuss how to handle the newly imposed Western sanctions. At the end of the meeting, a plan was submitted to the President and he in turn issued “special instructions.” The Economy Minister said, “In recent days, I have had private meetings with some relevant officials and ministers, the head of the Central Bank and the President… We discussed future plans at these meetings and took the appropriate action.” Other sessions involving various expert sections of the government have also been held in the past few weeks to draw up plans for various sanction scenarios.
