Hojjatolislam Mehdi Ta’eb, Head of Ammar Base, which was established after the June 2009 presidential elections to “confront soft war” (also former Basij Commander), said during a conference examining the opportunities and threats of social media said, “Now we are involved in Syria, and our frontline is there. We are facing all arrogant powers on this front… They are trying to defeat Syria through psychological warfare, because they have been defeated on the ground.” Ta’eb stressed, “Who was fighting in Syria? Al-Qaeda members from around the world financed by Saudi Arabia… America has gathered remaining members of Al-Qaeda and taken them to Syria in order to subvert Syria.” He suggested that Iran needs to take some countermeasures to win psychological warfare against the West.
