SNSC Secretary met with Bashar al-Assad

Wednesday, 8 August 2012

Saeed Jalili, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council has left Damascus for Bagdad after ending his one-day visit to Syria. While there, he met with senior Syrian officials, including President Bashar al-Assad. Jalili said, “The Zionist regime (Israel) and the USA are the main enemies of the Syrians and stressed that the US government, with its background of support for the Zionist regime and dictators of the region, such as Mubarak and Bin Ali, cannot pretend to support democracy.” He said that Resistance taught three lessons to nations in the region: first, the high capacity of Islamic Umma (“nation’); second, the weakness of the Zionist regime’s power, and third, that solidarity of the Islamic Umma can demolish power of the Zionists. Jalili said that Israel is too weak to do anything against Iran and Iran, more than ever, has the ability to defend itself.
