Following clarifications by Iranian Interpol regarding the extradition of Mahmoud Khavari, one of the defendants in the major bank embezzlement scandal, Canadian Interpol refused Iran’s request for the extradition. They announced that Khavari, who had been CEO of the national bank, would continue to reside in Canada. Several sources reported that Khavari had fled to the United States.
