An editorial in Kayhan titled, “Fateful Resistance” stresses that the value of justice against evil is a completely natural situation… In most cases, due to the weakness of the side of justice, the arena became the area of operations for the wicked/infidels. In any case, the side of justice, even when small, resisted the evil, even when it was large, and always was victorious over the evil because it received divine assistance. The most tangible symbol of justice against evil in our day and age is and has been Iran’s fortitude against the US right from the beginning of the Islamic Revolution. One American government after the other tried to trigger a coup in Iran, fanned the flames of the Iran-Iraq War and helped Iraq, shot down an Iranian passenger plane, imposed sanctions on Iran, declared Iran a terrorist state and included it in the axis of evil. Although Obama promised to changeUS foreign policy, resistance toIran not only did not wane, it increased. The semantics of the Obama administration became sharper, adopting extraordinary military and defense terminology. American officials openly discuss overthrowing the Iranian regime. American policies over the past 33 years have remained uniform and unchanged, even during the Khatami government and not even during the terms of other Iranian presidents, some of whom sent letters to American officials. To the extent that it affects theUS, theUS has established its policy and has made it clear toIran over the past 33 years that it was trying to harm its independence, territorial integrity as well asIran’s identity and Islam. In contrast, Iran believes that its way of coping with these pressures is through “resistance” – to the last breath – against plots that endanger its independence, national security and national interests. At the same time, Syria has become the battle ground for the two opposing fronts (Iran and the US). The American front inSyria openly uses various weapons and supports terrorist activities. If we take a close look at what is happening in the Syrian arena, we see that the US, Britain, France, the Zionist regime (Israel), Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar have launched a dirty and harsh war against a member UN country and that is opposed by at least half of the countries around the world, including Iran, Russia, China, African nations and some Arab nations in the Middle East… and yet the Syrian people and government are successfully maintaining their position against terrorist measures, and there is no indication that the Syrian regime is collapsing. Does all of this not prove that theUSis no longer the country it once was, when it could cause the downfall of governments within days? As Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei said, “The forces of evil stand against the Iranian people with all of their political and propaganda might, and the Iranian people resist and fight. Despite their power, they have not managed to escape the suppressed nations in the area, largely due to resistance. If this resistance and fighting spirit are transferred to other arenas such as the economic arena, in another decade or two, the future will include a completely Islamic and Western-free region.”
