Arsalan Fathipour said, ”In our meetings with officials of the NAM member states, we should brief them on the illegality of the sanctions and call on them to render these sanctions ineffective.” He added that Iran plans to lead the NAM Summit towards economic independence. “We want NAM countries to lay the groundwork to confront the economic threats posed by the hegemonic (Western) states.” He said that Iran’s economy is strong enough to counter the sanctions imposed by the West.
