Mohammad Sharif Malekzadeh, Iran’s former Deputy Foreign Minister who had been forced to resign over alleged financial corruption, has been pardoned by Khamenei. Ahmadinejad recently appointed Malekzadeh as his adviser. In June 2011, Malekzadeh was arrested and spent a month in detention on financial corruption charges. Shortly before his arrest, he had been appointed Deputy Foreign Minister for Administrative and Financial Affairs, a move which provoked much criticism, particularly within the Majlis.
