President Ahmadinejad described the implementation of the second phase of the national targeted subsidy plan as the beginning of a major economic development. He added that Iran’s economy has the potential to be one of the world’s major economies. He denied that the government will increase the price of gasoline to 2000 tomans a liter and accused his critics in the government of “interference and bad decision-making.” He alleged that instability in the foreign currency market over the past year was part of a conspiracy against his government’s efforts and that the government administration will make every effort to return the foreign currency market to where it was before these upheavals.
