Dozens arrested by intelligence ministry in East and West Azarbaijan

Dozens of people were arrested by police and Intelligence Ministry agents in East and West Azarbaijan over the past several days. Some of those arrested were seized during a protest against the drying-up of Lake Urmia, a major environment issue, but most were reportedly arrested following raids on their homes. Esrafil Omidi a post graduate student at Shahid Beheshti university in Uromieh and activists Mostafa Avazpour and Ghader Norouzi were arrested. Former secretary of the Azerbaijani Association of Tabriz University, Afsaneh Toughi was arrested by Intelligence Ministry forces in the university.
