Police displays sniffer dogs’ capabilities

Despite a religious ruling against keeping dogs as pets, the Iranian police employ dogs in their fight against drugs. The report covers the training of the dogs to identify and discover drugs, coaching and treating them. In the past senior Iranian religious authorities issued ruling (fatwa) forbidding keeping dogs as pets, and Majlis considered a bill criminalizing owning dogs in private apartments or exercising them in public places. There are occasional crackdowns on dog os.
