Political prisoner dies in Rejai Shahr Prison after being refused proper treatment

Friday, 25 May 2012

41-year-old Mansour Radpour died on May 21 from various health conditions including high blood pressure as well as heart and kidney problems but was denied adequate medical treatment by prison authorities. Radpour also made several requests for visitation rights with his son, which the authorities frequently rejected. Radpour was arrested five years ago and charged with having sympathy for the People’s Mujahideen Organization of Iran (PMOI), an opposition political group, and sentenced to three years in jail for “activities against national security through collaboration with the PMOI”. Once that sentence was served, he was handed another five-year prison sentence.
