Wednesday, 30 May 2012

In an interview with the opposition website, Rooz, the family of blogger and human rights activist, Hosseyn Ronaghi Maleki, expressed fear for his life and said that he has not had any contact with them since he began his hunger strike. Maleki’s father said that he holds “those who trample on the law and stole his son’s legal rights” responsible for his life and health. Maleki was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Since being in prison he has undergone five operations for kidney failure, and the family physician has warned that the hunger strike could lead to his death.
