At a press conference this week, the Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces Hassan Firouzabadi was also asked about domestic matters. A summary of his answers follows –
- We are pleased with both the eighth and ninth Majlis. We are glad that our Majlis has a good, positive approach to national security and domestic issues. Today, we expect that Majlis will expand its contact with the public, hear its needs and pain and work to solve problems within the guidelines issued by the Supreme Leader.
- Regarding the instructions given by the Supreme leader for maximum cooperation between the three branches of government, Firouzabadi noted that although three branches are at a very high level, the Supreme Leader is above them all. As “a simple soldier, I can say only that the heads of the three branches must heed the Supreme Leader’s instructions and take their relationship from the eye of the camera to private meetings.”
