At the end of the 9th Conference for Economic Cooperation between Iran and Takjikistan in Tehran, five Memorandums of Understanding regarding economic cooperation between the two countries were signed. At the signing ceremony, Iranian Energy Minister Majid Namjou stressed how successful the conference had been in achieving positive understandings between the parties. The MoUs include one on power plants, and one on cooperation between Iran’s Khatam-Olvasia Construction Headquarters and Tajikistan’s Ministry of Energy. Khatam-Olvasia is a conglomerate founded two years ago at the instruction of the Oil Minister, it is controlled by IRGC and includes five large companies from the gas and petroleum industries.
