According to a new decision by milk factories, in order to resolve the problems of rising milk prices, an agreement was reached between the Iran Dairy Industry Society and the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Commerce. According to the agreement, the factories will distribute milk at two price levels, with 50% of production being dedicated to three main products – milk, leben and cheese. The distribution of the products in each province will be determined by the Ministry of Industry, with milk itself being priced slower than its actual price. The remaining 50% of production capacity will be dedicated to producing products that will be sold at their actual price. Due to the decision, the price of milk in the free market may rise to 2000 toman (USD 1.63), in contrast with the current price of 1600 toman (USD 1.31).
