The Turkish media organization, TRT, reported on its Persian language website that Ali Akbar Salehi was arrested but quickly released by counter-terrorism police at Larnaca International Airport. Some Twitter users posted an alleged photo of Salehi in handcuffs, but its authenticity has since been questioned. Cyprus Ministry of the Foreign Affairs rejected claims that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran appears on the list of persons banned from entering or exiting Cyprus (Stop List) and would like to state that the visit was successful and followed the agreed program. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman also dismissed the reports and said that they show the “biased” approach certain media outlets have adopted.
