Mahmoud Bahmani, Governor of Iran’s Central Bank (CBI), denied reports of the cancellation of payment of foreign currency at the government rate to students and said that payment to students and the sick have not been halted. Bahmani added that Iran has sufficient reserves of foreign currency, but clarified that providing foreign currency at governmental rate for tourists (Iranians travelling abroad) will stop since there is no reason for a person who wants to go on a trip for pleasure needs to be provided with the currency at the governmental rate.
