Human rights activist temporarily released from prison after losing sight

Narges Mohammadi, Acting President of the Defenders of Human Rights Center, has been released from Zanjan Prison on bail of USD 485,000 for a period of ten days. Narges, who is also the Center’s Spokeswoman, was granted leave on bail after some three months in prison. Her temporary release from prison was granted for medical treatment, after losing her sight for five days. Narges Mohammadi was arrested in 2009 and sentenced to 11 years in prison in 2011.
