Industry, Agriculture Ministers may face impeachment

Thursday, 4 October 2012

A member of the Industries and Mines Committee, Seyyed Hadi Hosseini, stated that impeachment bids against Industry, Mines and Trade Minister, Mehdi Ghazanfari, and Agriculture Minister, Sadeq Khalilian, will be submitted to the Majlis Presiding Board next week. He added that 68 Majlis members have signed the impeachment petition against Ghazanfari and 55 against Khalilian. Hadi Hosseini explained that turbulence in the foreign exchange market, problems gripping the industrial sector, mismanagement in the mining sector, and problems facing poultry and egg production are among the key reasons behind the impeachment moves. He said that Majlis members who wrote the texts of impeachment motions had met separately with the two ministers and their deputies, but the latter failed to provide convincing explanations for the issues raised.
