Petition against government pressure on families of journalists

Monday, 31 December 2012

104 Iranian journalists inside and outside Iran signed a statement protesting the pressure applied to the families of the journalists and demanded that the Iranian regime end this harassment. The statement said that a new wave of pressure and harassment against the families of journalists who work with world media had begun, and this is a blatant violation of the human rights of people who have no involvement in selecting a profession of their fathers or children. The Iranian regime summoned a 90-year-old man for questioning and warned him of his son’s journalistic activities with one of the international media channels. They also summoned a young woman to the security department at work, where she was threatened that her brother, who lives outside of Iran, needed to stop his activities and stop cooperating with the world media.
