If the terms are right, Tehran might consider negotiations with US

Thursday, 3 January 2013

Alaeddin Boroujerdi, Chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said that “The Americans insisted on holding direct talks with Iran before the recent (US) presidential elections (November 6th), and they are still interested in doing so, because they know Iran has the final say in the region.” He added that
Washington recognizes Iran’s influence in the Middle East, including in Lebanon, Gaza, Iraq and Afghanistan, and is therefore interested in talks with Tehran. Boroujerdi said that if terms were right and they were ready to accept Iran’s national interests, Tehran might consider negotiations with the US.
