Khamenei: Iran has had the freest and fairest elections in the world

Wednesday, 9 January 2013

Iran’s Supreme Leader said, “It is evident and clear that elections should be free… Were the more than 30 elections in the last three decades not free? In what country are elections freer than in Iran?” He warned that enemies have hatched plots to hinder mass participation of the Iranian nation in the upcoming presidential election (June 2013), describing it as the “tangible” goal of the enemies. “Some people deemed the Iranian people’s victory against the arrogant Pahlavi regime and emancipation of Iran from humiliating American domination was impossible, but with the help of God, the monarchy regime belonged to history, and Islamic Republic and Iranian people gained independence from the U.S. and turned into a government whose name thrilled the world nations.”
