In a telephone conversation between Iranian First Vice President, Mohammad-Reza Rahimi, and Syrian Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi, Rahimi stressed Iran’s support for Bashar al-Assad’s position regarding the reforms in Syria, and added that Iran views them as a means of attaining stability and security in Syria. He added that the terrorists and foreign elements must understand that the Syrian people want peace and stability, and will not agree to foreign intervention in Syrian affairs. Rahimi expressed his hope that the upcoming visit of the Syrian Prime Minister to Tehran would lead to additional strengthening of relations, and also to expansion of trade and economic cooperation.
