Abbas Ghabadi, Deputy Minister for Industry and CEO of the Government Trading Corporation of Iran, referred to the rumors about a rise in the price of bread reported in the media. He said that bread prices will not be increased until the end of the Persian year (March 2013), but it is not yet clear what will happen next year. He said that Iran’s grain reserves are in a good state. The government purchased two million tons of wheat from Iranian farmers and also importing 5.5 million tons, and therefore grain reserves are excellent. Asked about oil-for-wheat barter, Ghabadi said that no oil had yet been traded with another country for wheat.
