Khomeini’s granddaughter: Iran on threshold of abyss

Monday, 14 January 2013

Zahra Eshraghi, granddaughter of the father of the Revolution and wife of Mohammad Reza Khatami (a prominent reformist activist and brother of former Iranian President Khatami), discussed Iran’s current position and added that everyone knows the situation, which is one of crisis. They may think that we can work alone and independently without needing the rest of the world, but don’t make a mistake. Just like they may need us, we need them. Some of Ahmadinejad’s actions and slogans had ramifications. You see the impact of the sanctions, how can you say that the sanctions have had no effect? Air pollution in Tehran, for example, is the result of sanctions and fuel of poor quality? This air pollution is a silent killer. We, Tehran residents, breathe toxins every day. All of this is the result of sanctions. Tehran, in my opinion, is on red alert. Iran’s is on red alert.
