According to human rights activists in Iran, the Prosecutor General of Zahedan opened a new wing in Zahedan prison that is designed for torture. According to the report, Prosecutor General Mohammad Marziyeh arrived at the prison along with other officials from the province and opened Wing 11 of the prison that is composed of many extremely tiny solitary confinement cells, where prisoners will be sent for punishment. Anyone imprisoned in this wing will be cut off from the outside world and will be unable to contact other prisoners or family. They can, according to the claims, use the bathroom only twice a day. The cells floors are paved, but they have no beds or mattresses. The report further reveals that the prison’s prominent interrogators and torturers were appointed directors of this wing.
