Security forces follow civilian activities in run up to election

Friday, 15 February 2013

Iran’s Police Chief, Esmaeil Ahmadi-Moghaddam, referred to discussions on the holding of free elections and claimed that the enemy is constantly trying to create the impression that the elections are not free, to make the Iranian people believe that their voice does not count and does not have any influence, and is trying to reduce the number of people participating in the elections. He said that the public is taking no notice of what the enemy is saying, and demonstrated this during the Islamic Revolution’s Victory Day parade. He referred to the role of the internal security forces in the elections and said that it is a security role and the forces are responsible for ensuring order and security. The security forces are following the events in the run-up to the elections to prevent any actions that might lead to disruption or undermining of security. No incidents will occur during the elections.
