Iran will never offer discounts on gas prices to other countries

Friday, 22 February 2013

Akbar Torkan, an expert on economic and energy affairs and former head of the Ministry of Oil’s Planning Department, claimed that despite the sanctions, Iran will never offer other countries benefits or discounts on gas prices. He emphasized that the days of low oil and gas prices are over. He referred to the official statements of the Advisor to the Pakistani Prime Minister regarding the provision of a discount on the price of Iranian gas sold to Pakistan and said that in light of the tighter sanctions, some countries that purchase oil and gas from Iran are trying to take advantage of the situation. He emphasized that all countries that buy oil and gas from Iran must know that the sanctions are not eternal. At some point, the sanctions will be lifted and, therefore, there is no justification for Iran to discount its oil and gas.
