The Student Basij Organization has issued a statement condemning President Ahmadinejad’s recent decision to replace the Dean of Tehran University. The Basij students called on the President to work to regain the status he lost in the hearts of the believers, instead of dealing with such matters. It further stated that Rahbar’s management of the University had been full of both positive and negative points. The positive points included his decisive action against the Fitna 88 post-election protests, certain efforts to break the political mafias on the university campus, and preventing the university from being transformed into a tool in the hands of the Fitna parties. The negative points of his office were his many pressures on ethical bodies active at the university, repeated cancellation of Islamic Revolutionary Front ceremonies, indifference to the unbridled corruption of the university’s cultural atmosphere, undeserved appointments of directors, and more. The question asked by Basij is, what has happened in recent months that made Ahmadinejad to suddenly decide to dismiss Rahbar, despite the fact that the Supreme Leader has repeatedly spoken out against making controversies public? Is this not another form of treason?
