IRGC launches airport on disputed island in the Persian Gulf

The Public Relations Office of the IRGC 5th Naval Force Region has announced that the Greater Tunb airport has officially begun operations for passenger carrier flights. From this point forward, the (IRGC) forces based on the Greater Tunb (Island) can make use of flights for traveling purposes. Earlier, this airport only had capabilities for helicopters and light aircraft to land there. Greater and lesser Tunb and Abu Musa Islands located in the strategic Hormuz Strait are under dispute with the UAE. Iran is constantly acting to assert its sovereignty over those Islands.
