Ali Reza Nikzad Rahbar said that one of the Oil Ministry’s most important policies will be to limit the sale of crude oil in order to reduce the country’s dependence on oil. According to the New Year Budget Law, the Oil Ministry intends to change its export policies and turn towards manufacturing oil-based products instead of crude oil. It therefore intends to establish small refineries capable of speeding up this goal. He also spoke of another of the Oil Ministry’s policies, of making Iran a source of gas for the Persian Gulf and the Middle East, adding that with the development of various projects in South Pars, natural gas reserves will be created for export. He said that Iran is now ready to resume the negotiations and the export of natural gas to the UAE, and is prepared to provide all the gas needed for the rest of the Arab states in the Persian Gulf. He added that a stable and secure supply of gas to Turkey resulted in this neighboring country continuing to buy gas from Iran despite international sanctions, and even additional requests from other neighboring countries to obtain gas supplies.
