In an interview with Fars, Iranian Ambassador to Oman, Ali Akbar Sibeveih, said that Islam is a unifying factor in the cultures of the two countries, and good relations between the two peoples over the years. According to Sibeveih, ties between Tehran and Muscat are the best and strongest among regional countries. He further declared that a gas pipeline would soon be built from Iran to Oman. Chairman of the Oman parliament, who is visiting Iran as head of a senior parliamentary delegation, met with his Iranian counterpart, Ali Larijani. Larijani emphasized the importance of the visit and expressed confidence that he would accelerate the development of bi-parliamentary and economic cooperation between the two countries. The Omani delegation met with other senior Iranian officials, including the President and the Foreign Minister.
