At an elections conference in Arak, candidate Mohsen Rezaee said that he plans on continuing the positive steps of the previous government, but will not repeat their mistakes. He added that Iran is currently unable to withstand internal splits and new political arguments. If he wins the elections, all disputes would be put aside. Rezaee criticized the elections law in Iran that allows for only 25 days of election campaigning and added that this would not be enough time to present the candidate’s plans. The law must be amended to resemble other countries. The elections campaign period must be extended to six months. Discussing the state of the economy and sanctions, Rezaee said that the only way to be victorious in the economic war being waged against Iran was to trust the young people and their abilities. He said that the US knows full well that Iran will advance and will control the Middle East, creating a large Islamic nation. The US fears Iran’s scientific, economic and cultural progress. Sanctions are just an excuse. He emphasized that if elected, he would promote disarmament of nuclear weapons worldwide. During the nuclear negotiations, Iran’s enemies are trying to play for time. Rezaee claims that another problem in Iranian society is unemployment, and that poor management has prevented victory over the sanctions as well as prevented a solution to the problem of unemployment.
