Iran’s Deputy Minister of Communications, Ali Hakim Javadi, responded to statements made by US Deputy Secretary of State regarding sanctions on the sale of communication technologies to Iran by saying that this decision will not affect implementation of Iran’s communication projects, which it has managed to implement rather easily to date. According to Javadi, the sanctions have not affected or even slowed down projects to expand Iran’s communication grids, but the American decision might help foreign countries that are cooperating with Iran. Javadi further stated that as a result of the sanctions, some of the foreign companies have been pressured due to their cooperation with Iran and the lifting of these sanctions can help them and they will no longer have an excuse regarding provision of assistance and services to Iran.
