Basij commander: Khomeini’s legacy best criteria for presidential candidate

Wednesday, 5 June 2013

Basij Commander, Mohammed Reza Naqdi, said during a visit to the headquarters to mark the anniversary of Imam Khomeini’s death, that the legacy of the founder of the Revolution is so rich and diverse that it includes ways to progress and overcome problems (Iran’s presence) and that it and its legacy are the best criteria for identifying the candidate deserving of the presidency. According to Naqdi, reinforcement of national unity and Islamic unity around the world is part of the results of the epic elections and high voter turnout in Iran. In these types of elections, “despair will be sown among the forces of evil.” He added that the Iranian vote will be “fateful for the world as well” and will result a situation in which even if the US insists on continuation of the sanctions, its allies will not agree to them.
