Majlis Chairman responsible for exclusion of reformists from decision-making centers

Friday, 7 June 2013

Masoumeh Ebtekar announced that the Supreme Committee supervising municipal elections has finally confirmed her disqualification on the grounds of lack of commitment to Islam and lack of adherence to the Iranian Constitution. She emphasized that these claims “are unacceptable and unbelievable.” She added that although the Supreme Leader emphasizes that is room for all shades of opinion in the elections, there is a process of forcing out the reformist movement and many of those loyal to the Revolution have been disqualified. Ebtekar stressed that she would comply with the decision of the Supreme Committee, but the decision is not acceptable to her and she will do everything to defend herself, as she considers herself a daughter of the Revolution. She said that she has entered a protest with the Supreme Committee, but has directly blamed Ali Larijani.
