Ahmadinejad: I am not involved in the nuclear issue

Monday, 10 June 2013

At a ceremony marking the opening of an underground railway that links Tehran to Tabriz, President Ahmadinejad said that everyone must unite to build the country, but the enemies of the Iranian people oppose Iran’s progress and are trying to create problems. Their hostility is attributed to the progress made by the Iranian people and its accomplishments. There are those in Iran who supported them in this way in order to complete the cycle of hostility through despicable political justifications. Ahmadinejad added, “I do not want to delve into some of the issues and say who bought foreign currency and gold and created the crisis, but the enemies want to stir up trouble in the market in order to undermine the existence of the Iranian people and its achievements. We must overcome these problems. I am not discussing the nuclear issue nor am I involved in it in any manner. Someone else is responsible for this portfolio, but in any event, we must be capable of hurdling these obstacles. In another part of his speech, Ahmadinejad criticized those who mock the simplicity of the government and said, “The modest and simple life is the result of a desire to not force unnecessary expenses on the public. The country’s leaders must live modestly. I know the exact cause of these attacks, because they themselves cannot live with such modesty and are trying to justify their luxurious lifestyle.”
