Hashemi-Rafsanjani’s daughter: No motivation to vote

Tuesday, 11 June 2013

Fa’ezeh Hashemi, Hashemi-Rafsanjani daughter, has condemned the Guardian Council (GC) over her father’s disqualification. “From the very outset, the process of election did not seem coherent and legal, and therefore there is no motivation to vote.” She added that her father’s disqualification was not predictable and, “In my opinion, the disqualification means the rejection of Islam and the Republic… Allegedly, during the first GC vote, the majority voted for Mr Hashemi (Rafsanjani). Then some people with the mission of altering the votes came to the session. They expressed [their concern over] the strong possibility that Mr. Hashemi would win the first round, and all of their efforts over the past 8 years would be in vain if Hashemi were elected, and it was easier to remove him at this stage than after the election. They put it to the vote again. Some members of the Guardian Council protested and some of them left the session in protest. The mission was completed, meaning that Mr. Hashemi was disqualified.”
