Political activist and former prisoner, Fatma Ziaei Azad, arrested at home

Security forces conducted a search of Azad’s home and confiscated her personal effects. According to her relatives, no official information has been released as to her whereabouts, but she is believed to be held in Wing 209 of Evin Prison. 54-year-old Fatma was a political prisoner in the 1980s. Four years ago, she was held for seven months at Evin, 100 days of which in solitary confinement after having met her daughters in Iraq. Fatma’s husband, Mahmoud Azimi, is a well-known political activist who was also arrested several times.
