Tehran still hopes to receive S-300

Tuesday, 11 June 2013

Iran’s Ambassador to Russia, Reza Sajjadi, said that Tehran hopes to receive the S-300 (advanced SA) missile defense system, adding that “Tehran and Moscow will hopefully agree on delivery of the S-300 missile system.” Iran filed complaint with the International Court of Justice in the Hague against Russia in the matter of the S-300, demanding four billion in damages. Sajjadi said that Iran is awaiting Russia’s response to a proposal put forward by Tehran to drop its lawsuit against Moscow. “The ball is in Russia’s court, but we are ready to continue cooperation on the S-300.” Reza Sajjadi told Interfax News Agency that Tehran will withdraw its lawsuit if Russia honors its contract. He said if Iran sees that Russia has changed its position on the delivery of the S-300 systems, the Islamic Republic will also “change its conduct.”
