Rafsanjani’s son Mohsen to head Tehran municipality?

Tuesday, 18 June 2013

The government has been defeated in the Tehran City Council elections, with outgoing President Ahmadinejad’s sister Parvin Ahmadinejad not bothering to vote. None of the candidates on the Dar Emtedad Mehr list, including Parvin, won the popular vote. The list comprises 12 reformists and 19 principlists. Rafsanjani’s son Mohsen (former Tehran metro head) may be elected new mayor.  Earlier reformist candidates for the City Council (elections) had agreed to select Mohsen Hashemi (Hashemi Rafsanjani’s son) as Tehran’s mayor if they succeeded in winning the elections (they didn’t)!.
