“You are being monitored – watch out”: Text message from MOIS to Tehran residents

The text message led to a furious outcry on social networks. Human rights activists report that in recent days, the Ministry of Intelligence has been sending threatening text messages to political activists and ordinary citizens. Most of the text messages were sent to cellular phones belonging to residents of Tehran and said, “Your illegal conduct is being monitored, repeating it will lead to legal punishment. Information Headquarters of the Intelligence Ministry.” Iranian human rights activist and journalist, wrote, “This image was sent by a dear friend from Tehran. It is the message that the Intelligence Ministry is sending out randomly to frighten people.” Another Persian-language Facebook page also posted an image of the same text message and maintained, “Although Hassan Rouhani has not started his presidency yet, threats and pressure have already begun. This is a photo of an event that surprised us tonight. I did not expect anything else from the people who sent this text message either as a joke or as a threat. This is an old trick…”
