Arrest of political activist for supporting senior reformist cleric

Political activist, Ali Nekouei, who supports the Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Dastgheib, was arrested last week by plainclothes Intelligence Ministry agents while leaving work as an air-controller at Shiraz airport. His whereabouts are unknown. At the same time, his home was searched and his personal belongings confiscated. The whereabouts of three other individuals who were detained about two weeks ago also remains unknown. The three student activists, Mohammad Reza Vahedi, Azita Rasti Firouzadeh, and Mehdi Farmani were detained on Tuesday June 11. Despite efforts on the part of their family members to obtain any information, no information has been released regarding their condition.
