Communications Minister discusses issue of Internet security and IT in China

Thursday, 27 June 2013

Communications Minister Mohammad Hassan Nami met with his Chinese counterpart in Beijing, at what was declared to have been a successful meeting. Nami said that the two countries have common concerns in various fields, including the Internet, adding that Iran wants to develop better relations than ever before with China in the field of industry and information technology. The Chinese Minister expressed a similar desire. Although no information has been published on sales of Chinese equipment to Iran, Iranian government officials have often been accused of purchasing products from China to track Internet users. President-Elect Hassan Rouhani said, “The expansion of ties with China in all areas is one of the top priorities of the next government’s foreign policy.”
