Huge waste of investments in South Pars project

Akbar Torkan (Minister of Defense in Rafsanjani’s government and Deputy Oil Minister during Ahmadinejad’s first term of office) said in a media interview that in order to take full, comprehensive advantage of all the phases in the South Pars project, USD 40 billion in capital is required. He said that USD 46 billion was invested in the project over the last three years, yet no new stage has reached the production line, and the next government will need to examine how financial resources were wasted on this joint oilfield.
