More arrests and harassment of Baha’i minority:

  • Another Baha’i arrested in Sanandaj Samim Zarei, a Baha’i from Sanandaj, was arrested by internal security forces who broke into his home last week. He is the second Baha’i arrested in Sanandaj in the past four months. Sama Raufi was previously arrested by the Ministry of Intelligence in the city and released after being held in solitary confinement for one month.
  • Baha’i woman arrested Nura Samitra Falah, a Baha’i woman from Shiraz was summoned by telephone to the Ministry of Intelligence and was arrested. There is no information on her whereabouts or reason for her arrest.
  • A Baha’i student of English literature from Shiraz suspended from studies –According to reports by human rights activists, she was told that if she wanted to continue her studies she would need to convert to Islam or leave Iran, like other Baha’i.
