Wife fears her Iranian-born husband kidnapped by Iranian intelligence in Dubai

Friday, 12 July 2013

British national Abbas Yazasanpanah Yazdi, 44, born in Iran, was last seen on June 25, after leaving his office in Burj Dubai. His wife contacted the authorities, fearing that her husband, a trader and investor, who is the CEO of Burj Dubai-based firm Echelon, was kidnapped by Iranian intelligence officers. She said her husband was a close childhood friend of Mehdi Hashemi Rafsanjani, the son Rafsanjani. She also claimed he was detained in Iran in 1993 and tortured in solitary confinement by the intelligence service for six months. After escaping, she says he fled to London, where he obtained British citizenship. The couple moved to Dubai 10 years ago. Other sources reported that Mehdi and Abbas were business partners in Statoil.
